Conference on Green Governance and Policy

Background

Pakistan faces unprecedented environmental challenges—from catastrophic floods and water stress to urban air pollution costing 9%[DD1]  of GDP annually. Lahore, a megacity of 13 million, epitomizes this crisis: ranked among the world’s most polluted cities, its air quality regularly exceeds WHO limits by 20x. Yet, these challenges present an opportunity to pioneer South Asian-led solutions in green governance.

This conference responds to accelerating global demand for localized policy frameworks that bridge ecological sustainability, economic resilience, and social equity. With Pakistan’s committed NDCs and provincial climate policies in development, this convening will catalyze actionable strategies for a just transition.
